A book written in the soft apocalypse genre. Book one of three. It is written as a novel, but meant to be a guide for learning herbals, learning preparedness and learning food storage principles. It is part of the Bitter Sweet Workbook Series of Self Study Guides.
The world as we know it has changed. Between a pandemic, economic collapse and various natural disasters, Mother Nature is the new provider, and we need to live with her and by her rules as we start over after learning some valuable lessons.
There are no zombies, no murderous bandits, or terrible militia control. Those who survived this will have learned how to sew, garden, farm, weave, herbalism, wood working, cooking from scratch and any other basic survival skills.
There is a barter system set up, primarily by the Bitter Sweet Herbal School, and is in the process of spreading throughout the land. It runs in conjunction with what remains of the cash / banking, as it also tries to rebuild.
People have bonded together to begin rebuilding, instead of killing other, they have found the strength of teaching and supporting each other. Books are a precious part of this teaching, as they contain the most detailed teachings of survival and rebuilding. All people stand on equal ground, and it takes care of them. There is no survival of the fittest, as the fittest take care of everyone.
Communities that have survived this apocalypse are beginning to expand into towns and cities. Some have found ways to use solar and wind power, and have an ample supply of electricity, and others have learned how to manage with geothermal heating and other methods.
Storytellers are telling of the way things were, as they sit around the campfires in the evenings. The young children are being taught by the elders and each is learning to survive with what they have, and most importantly, with each other.
Bitter Sweet Herbal School has always lived by this philosophy of natural medicines and preparedness / self reliance principles. For them it is nothing new, but the challenge is now to teach others and rebuild….
